[2023] adidas football

Sometimes, recovering the moment to recover a historical garment coincides with a global trend. This is the case with the new adidas collection that places us in the brightest moments of soccer of teams like Germany, Argentina, Mexico or Spain (at least if we talk about style) and fits perfectly with the current trend of blokecore. In FOOTDISTRICT we have looked for the different angles of this collection and we give it the precise point of nostalgia.

The lines of the nineties return with the garments that the Spanish national team wore at Euro 1996. Button-down collars, cross bands and the federation's crest on a shirt that reflected a seriousness that was unusual at the time. A minimalism that even left the brand logo in a simple "adidas" placed in a central position. The jacket, more in keeping with the designs of the time, stood out for its loose fit and the three adidas stripes that form the flag.

Adidas has traveled back to 1985 to recover one of its forgotten creations for Mexico. The second kit features the original FMF crest as well as the adidas trefoil and the three stripes in the colors of the flag. A unique jersey to bring us back to the style of the eighties.

The Deutscher Fußball-Bund, the German soccer federation, always taken care of by adidas with some of its most memorable designs, returns with the garments that accompanied them in their victory at Euro 1996. A white first kit with the classic three stripes on the shoulders and a green second kit in which the stripes cross over the shoulders. On both, the three stars recall the three World Cups won so far, 1954, 1974 and 1990 (the fourth star was still to come, that of 2014).

1994 was, for many, the World Cup that created the style of the nineties, a golden era in which epic, drama and excesses were as important as the result. A tournament held in soccer stadiums...American, the first Cup to be decided on penalties, the one with Maradona screaming at the camera. The wide patterns of the jerseys made it possible to play with visual structures and the materials that made an impact in the eighties evolved to the limit.

Argentina's away kit stands out for the three woven stripes, the embossed number ten and the diamond pattern on the bright blue background.
